Open House, Field Trip and CONTEST!

On Thursday, September 10th, WJJMS is holding Open House from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. You may go to your child's homeroom to retrieve a copy of their schedule and then visit Applied Academics teachers until 7:11 p.m. At that time, the rest of the Beta Team will meet in Cafe A so that we may go over the core academic classes in a larger group. If you are unable to attend and would like a copy of the PARENT LETTER for SOCIAL STUDIES, please click on the above highlighted text. 

Beta Students will be going on a field trip to the Mystic Seaport on Friday, October 2nd! We will be discussing the field trip with students on Thursday, and they will come home with copies of information for you, but if you'd like an additional copy, please CLICK HERE FOR FIELD TRIP INFORMATION.  The cost of the field trip is $28 per student. There are scholarships available, so please let your homeroom teacher know if one is needed.

If you would like to join us on the trip as a chaperon, please make sure your Volunteer Application is up-to-date. A copy will come home with your child, but if you need a new copy, please CLICK HERE. The chaperon fee is $22.50 per person. We need several chaperons, so if you are able to join us, please let us know ASAP.



CONTEST INFO:
We have been learning how objects and artifacts can tell us about our recent and historical past. Students have written up brief summaries of their personal objects and these may be submitted to a contest through the Connecticut Historical Society!  The deadline is THIS WEEK and parents need to give permission to their children to submit their objects, so to make this easier, here is the link to the contest:

Students have already written up their descriptions and may be copy/pasted into the entry form listed above. However, they will need you to fill out the parent section on the online form.  Please know, the descriptions may still need editing!  So, please check that the description is correct before submitting to the contest!
